An odd and irreverent series highlighting influential St. Louisans who avoided “the limelight” ran from Dec. 12, 1909, through May 8, 1910.
Nineteen men were featured: (1) David Francis, (2) Jeptha D. Howe, (3) Bud Dozier, (4) W.K. Kavanaugh, (5) James E. Smith, (6) Frank H. Gerhart, (7) George W. Simmons, (8) Fred Lehmann, (9) John A. Laird, (10) Charles F. Gallenkamp, (11) Henry S. Caulfield, (12) Fred W. Peters, (13) Walter B. Stevens, (14) Charles F. Wenneker, (15) Otto Teichmann, (16) Seebert Jones, (17) Henry W. Peters, (18) H.S. Priest, and (19) Tom L. Cannon. Other than Francis, most are forgotten today.
